alternative rock music is an alternative to the crap played on radio. these would be punk/grunge type bands. so whats with all the little fall out boy fans calling them "alternative" as if its some kind of pop genre on its own. somebody explain this to me please?

His career started out being the drummer for a small* band named Nirvana. Heard they did ok. Then he made a solo album. Literally. He recorded his first album all by himself. Drums, guitar, and bass. I was just noticing that there seems to be two types of people on Y!A: people who like newer music (My Chemical Romance,The Shins, 50 Cent, Rage Against The Machine, etc.) and people who like old music (Pink Floyd, Ray Charles, Merle Haggard, The Rolling Stones, etc.)

Which do you personally prefer? Whatever genre you like, do you like music that is more recent or older, and why?
