gotta go w/ skynyrd...even though john mellencamp waz awesome...john waz just rock and roll while LS waz southern rock...which is like rock and roll and country combined...compare their biggest hits SHA free bird and that smell against jack and diane, rock and the usa, and pink houses...i like LS jst a little more than mellencamp...since LS waz southern rock!!!they were both awesome though...good luck on survey!!!!

All Mr. Cougar had was his little ditty, while Skynyrd rocked their southern soul out until the unfortunate plane crash. Although, they still tried to rock some after that, they put out a variety of great material including Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama, What's Your Name, Gimme Three Steps, and That Smell. If you don't need to know exactly hoe many are gonna vote for each one, I'll tell you now that Skynyrd has almost no chance of losing to Mellencamp.

I'm starting to like you. I'd go lynyrd skynyrd, 'cause there's more variety. They are the quintessential southern rock band, but there's music for everybody if they look for it. Mellencamp is great, but he's a little more of a fixed taste.

All John Cougar/Mellencamp/whateverthehellhisnameis songs sound the same to me.

True story-a friend of mine was playing guitar in a local tavern; he was getting heckled with calls for 'freebird!' So, on his break, he went into a back room, worked out the chords, and came out and played the song.
