The music on the first album shows clearly the influence of punk, yet also incorporates funk and less-obvious influences of reggae and dub, similar to other bands at the time such as Public Image Ltd., Pere Ubu, and Au Pairs. As with these other influential post-punk bands, the bass is mixed much more prominently than it typically is in rock or punk.

The album has attracted praise from rock musicians. "Entertainment! shredded everything that came before it," R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe has said. Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers stated that the first time he heard the record, "It completely changed the way I looked at rock music and sent me on my trip as a bass player." In 2003, the album was ranked number 490 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In March 2005, Q magazine placed the track "At Home He's a Tourist" at number 52 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.

Is the ability to sing well the gift since our born or what we can actually pursue by taking vocal lessons? I do sing in choir, but not solo as I'm kinda hopeless in that.

I recently went to another concert at the Manchester Academy to see Stone Sour, I've been to a few and always my ears are ringing afterwards but it usually stops when i wake up. However they haven't stopped ringing all day.

My friend tried out for choir the other day. He's NEVER been in choir or anything LIKE that before. After his audition, they said they were going to put him into Symphonic choir as a Baritone, and possibly even put him in chambers. Does this mean he's a good singer? Can anyone advise on software for me to buy for my son, he's 11yrs old plays piano and drums, I would like something for him to create music on the PC, like mixing sounds etc., (I dont know much about it!) I've heard of fruity loops but isnt this american? does anyone know anything about Magix music maker which I've seen?
