I had a strong paranoid reaction to the song and the lyrics when it came up on my iPod recently. I mean, I thought Rakim was coming to kill me. I was pretty high, but I've smoked a lot of marijuana in my life, and I've heard the song at least 100 times while stoned--IMO, it's one of the ten absolute best songs in the history of the genre. If we assume the marijuana wasn't laced with anything--and I'm not saying it was or wasn't--is there anything in the song that could explain my reaction? I think there's something to the echo and how his voice and cadence fit inside the beat. The story ends, incidentally, with a spiritual reawakening a la John Coltrane. I felt some kind of force help break me out of my terror.

My 8 year old is set on having a guitar, prob is, I cant play one and wouldnt know where to start, I cant afford the time or money to take her for lessons so what should i do? Is there DVD's or books or anything for kids. Also she wants an electric one, am i correct in thinking she'll have to learn on an acoustic one first?

I need help!
This may be psychological but any tips or advice is welcome.
Ive recently just started singing in public (i was too shy b4). Anyways...everytime I need2do a really powerful part of a song then my throat suddenly goes all itchy and I cant do it then.
I know that Ive got the ability to reach that note or sing that hectic bridge coz I do it at home... but as soon as I get on stage then I get the "itchy throat syndrome".
Also, no matter how good Im doing a song...i could be singing it perfectly...as soon as the hectic part comes (high or really powerful) then my throat just closes.

pls help me!

Is there any exercises I can do to get over this?
Should I drink anything in particular?
Should I do mind exercises to help me get rid of this block?

Not sure if I got the lyrics right, as I barely remember them at all...but I think it goes something along the lines of.."It seems this world is hiding something..."...."...lost, and we're wasting time." I do not know WHO sings it, nor the title. Nor, do I know if I got the lyrics correct. All I DO know is that I quoted what (possibly) may be the first couple lines in the song.

Any ideas?

Does any body know where can I buy a strap lock here in the philippines? I'm exactly at manila and I'm using a bass guitar, and locking straps can also be accepted haha.. and how much does the lock cost?
