I need help!
This may be psychological but any tips or advice is welcome.
Ive recently just started singing in public (i was too shy b4). Anyways...everytime I need2do a really powerful part of a song then my throat suddenly goes all itchy and I cant do it then.
I know that Ive got the ability to reach that note or sing that hectic bridge coz I do it at home... but as soon as I get on stage then I get the "itchy throat syndrome".
Also, no matter how good Im doing a song...i could be singing it perfectly...as soon as the hectic part comes (high or really powerful) then my throat just closes.

pls help me!

Is there any exercises I can do to get over this?
Should I drink anything in particular?
Should I do mind exercises to help me get rid of this block?

Whats wrong with me?

Hey there is nothing wrong with you. All is fine with you.
You just feel what are the same as people feel. Do not too worry about it. You are too worry about the way you sing or what people think about your singing. All is that, no more than that.
Here my advice :
1. I see that you are really can sing, cause you said it that you could do it at home, so keep practise at home like that. Home is the best way for you to practise cause at home you will feel comfort to do the singing. After you think you are ok, then try to sing in another situation, example going to your friend's house which have a birthday party, or going to your family house and sing there. What i mean, you try to sing in front of people which going bigger and bigger. So after sometimes you will be amazed with the people that what your singing. Ok. And do not forget, to ask them after you do the singing, and write it down what the people said about you.
2. Drink !!!!! just pure water or mineral water, not some soda or everything like that. The pure water and mineral water is the best drinking you have to get just before you sing or after you sing. Why ?? cause that kind of water is really helping you to make your body's heat still in normal. I use to drink some seconds before i do the singing. and it make me feel s comfort.
3. Every problem can be solved, and the solver for your own problem is only yourself, no one can help you better than yourself. ok. Cause you know what is the best for you. And your exercise for your powerful when you do singing is continously singing the powerful part of every song that you want to sing. I mean you have to choose songs that really have some powerful part. But of course it begin from the normal singing into the powerful singing, do not start to do it instantly. So from the slow normal song to powerful singing. Ok
4. Please sing the song that you love so very much first, then the other songs you can learn next time. And please sing in the way you love to sing. ok
You can listen to : Andrea bocelli for example his singing is really good for us to learn. Low voice to an amazing high octave song. Try his mellodrama song.
5. You need also the practise for your breath, the best way to do it is : swimming. Hold your breath in the water as long as you can. Do it at least 3 times a week or 2 times for minimum. You can do it at the same way also, each time you come to the pool, you must increasing your practise holding the breath. Example today you practise 20 times, next time 25 etc.

Ok. hope it all are useful for you.
Keep singing, i love singing also.
And do not worry you CAN sing in your best way.

It's stage fright, You have to learn to look above and over the crowd as if they weren't there.Or find a way to relax. When you are going for the high note, you tense up because you are thinking"what if" and the tensing causes your mouth to go dry and your throat closes up! Doesn't matter how much water you drink. It's all in your mind! Being able to hear how you sound out front is helpful too,You need a good sound man. Bodies absorb sound so when as the crowd grows you need someone to adjust the the sound level and effects. all those things will help you feel more confident and less tension! A shot of Southern Comfort never hurts either! Good Luck
