I know it is a peer to peer file sharing program but is it illegal to download songs and burn it without selling it?

I'm afraid that it's going to be hard to read in a couple months because it already looks terrible! It's not that I'm being careless, I've just used it a lot. Is there anyway to clean it? I looks like my screen has been smeared in a couple places or something. Can I send it back in? Will my warrenty cover a bad screen or not? Please help!
