I am doing a research paper, please make it easy and limit my reading.

Comedy or drama, made for the big screen, TV, series or mini-series, or for that matter, direct to DVD it does not matter.

I will follow all leads or sites, as time allows, especially those of which, I am not familiar...

Thank you all in advance...be it known more questions to follow...

What does he say?
You will be settling an argument!

I'm having a fright movie weekend this weekend with my girlfriends and we need some suggestions. We want truly terrifying, edge of your seat movies, nothing gory and pointless like Saw. We want to be horrified and scarred (not just scared but scarred) for weeks to come :)

they never have mother characters.
bambi's mom dies
no mom in cinderella, beauty of the beast, or sleeping beauty
nemo's mom dies
no mom in lion king
and where's keira knightley's mom in pirates of the caribbean?

anybody else noticed the missing mom trend in disney movies? is this intentional or is this the longest string of coincidences ever?

I am currently in a grad level adolecent ficion class and I'm wanting to write a very unique paper on the Harry Potter series. I have pages of ideas but nothing that is really jumping out at me. . .
Ex: The importance of objects w/in Hp, Adults protrayed in HP, Women Warriors in HP, Orphans. muggles. mudbloods and purbloods, Mental illness in HP, government corruption in HP, Espionage in HP, Harry and Voldemort two sides of one coin.

These are just some of them which of the above sounds most interesting? or do you have a better suggestion

Other such movies would be "He Loves Me.. He Loves Me Not" with Audrey Tautou, Mulholland Drive, the original Psycho, the original Metropolis (1926-7), 1984, Soylent Green, etc.

I especially like weird, psychological thrillers (I don't care for Hitchcock- too bland) and movies with twists on reality. As long as the movie is "intelligently" produced, I don't care what genre it appears to be from (drama/ sci-fi/ dystopian/ romance, etc).

Please also tell me why you are recommending the movie to me. Thanks!
