We all say "higher up" as in: "i want to go higher up!" but has anyone ever heard the expression "lower down" as in: "Lets go sit lower down!" Would anyone question it if you heard someone use the phrase "lower down" in a sentance?

Also, we use to say a pair of shoes/boots but we say many shoes/boots don't we-in contrast to a piece of cake and much cake.

My Dad swears up and down that when he was a kid chimney was spelled with a "b". So it would spell like "chimbney". Is there any truth to this? I think he is full of it!

What does pooting mean? People often ask me if I am pooting. I don't know what they are talking about, and I don't want to sound ignorant and ask them.

I've noticed a trend of using it to mean neglectful, ie. someone who ignores is ignorant. Which, if you're one of those people, IT DOES NOT MEAN.

It bugs me, but I wonder... will these ignorant people change its meaning through relentless misuse?
