Writing poetry is a way to reach inside your soul and release deep feelings. It is very therapeutic to me .My poetry is not usually shared with others and has helped me with deep emotions in times of crisis.
Not all people care to read poetry and will probably not appreciate it.
As with all personal writing it is very revealing and that is why I do not share most of mine. I write just for me.

Haven't you ever read a poem and then thought"Yeah, that's it! Someone else feels as I do, knows what I'm talking about, has been there?" Some poetry is strictly for amusement-think Ogden Nash and his limericks- but other poems can make you feel that other people share your experiences.

The point is to entertain. I read it. I also write it. I do both for my own pleasure.
