Yes, there are a few of us.
So many do not proofread their posts before assaulting unsuspecting readers of this message board with a litany of misspellings, egregious grammatical errors, and other verbal atrocities. Enough to do my head in.
No wonder my face fell off. lol
Thank you.

Technically speaking, your question should have been : "Is there anybody using this site who has even a slightest knowledge of grammar or spelling?"
The way you have put it makes it sound as if 'the slightest' is some special kind of knowledge of grammar and spelling which you would like somebody using this site to have.
Everyone has a different racial, social, educational and vocational background. Linguistic capabilities of a person depend a lot on these factors. Moreover, knowledge of grammar and spelling is not a must in many professions. For instance, if you are a manual laborer, what matters more is your ability to perform the physical tasks necessary for that particular job, and so on.
Having said this, I would like to add that I do agree with your being irritated at people who use poor grammar or spelling, not because they are ignorant, but because they just don't care. They don't realize the hazards of miscommunication, I guess.

At a quick glance it wouldn't seem so, but yes, there are a few of us around. We actually take time to compose answers and check our grammar (not -er) and spelling before submitting them. However, trying to correct people, either directly or with a little humour seems to be a Syssyphusian endeavour. (Can/Brit-spelling)The paradox here is that this site is meant for asking/anwering questions, which the last time I looked was a form of learning/education, yet there is such resistance and derision toward learning. I wish people would make a little effort because, unfortunately, even though they may be smart, it doesn't manifest itself that way. One more point; the "askers" wouldn't get so many sarcastic and inane responses, or a visit from the grammar/spelling police. First impressions, people!

Gail it won't annoy you for long, for instance, I have now got used to it and believe either nobody was taught grammar or they can't be bothered which I rather think is the case. Just have a good laugh!! Some people take this site very seriously, like the god-botherers so go on to something fairly light.

Sometimes I ask myself the same question. When I tried to chat in Yahoo I seemed the only native speaker there - which was impossible because I'm Russian. :)))
Later I stopped paying attention to all this - people aren't going to change their ways just because I don't like them.
I hope my grammar and spelling are correct... :)))

Is there anyone using this site who ever shuts up about spelling and grammer mistakes, I know it must be so hard for you lot to comprehend but not everyone is perfect at spelling and grammer 100% of the time. Its so annoying when you ask a serious question on here and you get these tawts that answer with "you spelt this wrong, you spelt that wrong" Im sure you get some power trip out of it or something. How annoying it must be for you that noone is as perfect as you. There pick your way through that paragraph, have fun.

If grammar and spelling are important to you, that is a wonderful skill to have. However, it should not close your eyes to the ideas of people who don't have that gift/interest. We can learn from others, even if they aren't perfect . . . or even half-way perfect. Now, personally, I find mistakes in grammar and spelling very irritating and try not to make errors.

Yes, though grammar can be taken to the fringe of pedantry, so I use "It's me" rather than the correct "It's I", and "It was we" sounds terrible, doesn't it?
I don't much like the subjunctive, either; I tend to write, in a formal letter, "I shall be glad if you will ..." rather than "I should be glad if you would....".
As to spelling, I know that dyslexia does exist, but it does seem to be affecting a large proportion of the young, nowadays.

Actually, look on just about any public site that a person can post a response on and you will be even more amazed.
Its really a shame that the younger generation has no respect for grammer, spelling or even respect period.
