I think usually its pronounced like "zurk-seez", but I once heard my lecturer pronounced it like "kser-k-ses". I know the name is pronounced like "kse-r-k-ses" in Greek, so I suppose "kser-k-ses" is based on Greek, and it might be academic usage. But I'm not sure.

There is lot of fun to be had using the English language; listen to that old fraud, Stephen Fry. It's not enjoyable to watch a kitten being beaten and although it bears no resemblance, those who cherish words, do not like to see them being used badly or the language tortured by misspellings. It's a caring thing. Do you know what I mean?

I'm not a native speaker of English. There was a question raised on this issue here in Taiwan that drew an interesting view to the following effects:
that as far as Americans are concerned "boss" is generally used;
that "lade boss" is rarely used, and
that there is difference to be made between "lady boss" and "femail boss".

Do you or would you use "lady boss" to denote "a boss who is female"? What is your other take on this?

Thanks for your inputs.

If you hear the phrase

"roll over" for someone,

what image comes to mind? A dog rolling over showing his belly? Or a person rolling over to take it in the ****?

Settle a bet between me and my husband! Thanks!
