If you hear the phrase

"roll over" for someone,

what image comes to mind? A dog rolling over showing his belly? Or a person rolling over to take it in the ****?

Settle a bet between me and my husband! Thanks!

Roll over commonly refers to an act of submission, as a dog, wolf, etc, will roll over on it's back to concede defeat or acknowledging the others superiority. When used in human terms the person does not physically roll over (I hope not at least), but somehow demonstrates that he/she had conceded to the other. Hope you won the bet!

For me, it means to accept what they are saying as a favor to them or to take a punishment meant for them
