How many of you have heard of the No Child Left Behind act of 2001? I am actually starting to believe that the act was put in place to leave some children behind. What do the school districts plan on doing in 2 years when over half of the senoir class has to come back because they couldn't pass the math WASL??? If kids are going to have "advisory" where they are tested to see what kind of career they are going to be in, then why are the kids forced to pass test that have nothing to do with their career choices? I have decided that I am not retaking the math WASL. One administrator told me that we aren't going to be given a choice, wether or not we retake it, but I want a choice, and so therefore, I am not retaking the math WASL. And if I have to repeat my senoir year 10 times, so be it. I don't think that standardized tests are equal. It is a proven fact that some kids are better at some subjects than others. So why rub it in when a kid that has a talent in writting can't do trig???

ok, i just got in high school and am failing miserably.

Thing is, i'm so used to middle school where getting good grades and studying never needed to go together. And i'v never been forced to study, or have had to study that much.

now when ever i try to study for somthing, i just can't, i read the information but it doesn't register, andf my brain gets a small head ache when i try to. and even when i force myself to, i can't remember anything becaus eof the small head ache....

does anyone know how i can get over this!?

I am doing a paper on the benefits of reading to children at an early age. I would like to put in there the percentage of college students were read to as children to show what reading to children can do for them. If any one knows this answer pls let me know and how you found the information. Thanks

I am writing a college English paper on the value of a college education. Things to think about:
Is it worth the money?
Does the mind need to be intellectually stimulated?
Can you be happy without going to school?
Can you be successful without going to school?
Why are you going to school?
Why are you not going to school?
Will a degree guarentee you a job?
Have universities become so much like a business that they pump out degrees that aren't as in high demand?
If you did not go to college, do you regret not going?
Any other thoughts please let me know.
Thanks for all your help!!!!

Hi, Im just wondering what are some tactics people do to study. I read the work from the book, and have notes from the teacher, and take my own notes from the book....is that a good way to do the things....I find it so hard to keep myself from being bored. Anyway if anyone has any ideas share them please. Thanks

Today someone people told me that even if you have over a 4.0 GPA at the end of the year the school will only count it as a 4.0. I was wondering if anybody could confirm this because that is pretty stupid if its true.
