Some campuses are very big like UMass Amhearst and a shuttle can get you to the outskirts of the campus faster and in time for class. also, some shuttles bring you to the surrounding communities. Cars on campus are expensive and not always safe - plus the cost of gas and car upkeep are expensive. That is why a shuttle is an advantage. It doesn't make the college better, its just an additional advantage.

Safety--Especially at night and they help disabled students at all times of day.

Environment--Fewer cars and congestion, emissions, nad energy consumption; better overall use of resources.

Time--Students have a good chance to shave time off long hikes across large campuses, especially if they're running behind.

Contributes to an attractive campus life/applications and acceptances may increase--more students may be induced to apply and attend.

These shuttles make it much easier to get to class on time. They can also make you feel more secure than walking around at night.
