Before all you shades-of-gray people begin ranting, I agree--it's a bit of all three and we shouldn't over-generalize. What I really want to ask is which group(s) seems to get too much blame and which too little? Please expound on your ideas.

Again, I don't mean to be over-generalizing here, and I would agree with anyone who would say that, of course, some schools do things better than others, some students work better than others, and some parents are more diligent than others.

Lastly--please don't blame the government, unless you mean to blame every U.S. or state administration of the past umpteen years. U.S. schools have been troubled long before W became president.

I was out doing some things in the front garden the other day, and the kids across the street were being silly, and yelling hello, and wiggling like crazy. I was yelling hello right back, and wiggling, as well. They are immigrants, and their parents don't speak English very well, so I thought they might not know how to do the Hokey Pokey. While we were having an impromptu Hokey Pokey class on my lawn, some other kids from the neighborhood came and joined us, and I was very surprised that although they were born and raised here in the US, they had never even heard of the Hokey Pokey. I taught kids from four different families that day, and NONE of them had any idea such a silly song/dance/game existed. That made me wonder if the Hokey Pokey has been banned in schools or something. When I was a kid, you learned it in Kindergarten if you didn't already know it, and it was a favorite activity. Has the Hokey Pokey disappeared?

Do any of you wish to be back in elementary school in any grade of your choice? Would you like to start over and go back to when you were a kid?

I live in Fl.I believe there was a lawsuit years ago pertaining to this.My daughter is in the 10th grade.Everybody knows you cannot get into using the restrooms at limited time when changing classes, due to social time,make-up etc.I daughter will not as much as drink water in the morning with fear of having to use the restroom and being denied. How can a child learn with having to relieve thenselves, legs tightly crossed and bouncing their legs up and down to hold it in.The kicker to all of this is the teacher stated that she may go but she will have 2 points deducted from her grade. Can somebody tell me if a law was passed in Fl where a child cannot be denied the use of the restroom when needed?

Everyone that asks a question about their IQ on here (the questioner is normally the person who has the average iq for i.e 95-110) the people who answer always seem to have the IQ of a genious? If the average IQ was 90-110 why the hell is everyone on here either iq 140 to 190 (yes someone said 190 iq and was serious!) And the people who answer 80 percent of time can't spell, can't form sentences properly, say invalid or impossible to know factual knowledge.... So the question stands... is yahoo answers full of ****? Oh! and they use big words on that certain question, and on their other answers on other topics, they talk like this : "lawl i kno liek lmao lolz! This is the most hopeless site on the internet, who ever says their iq is 140+ and lie about it have the IQ of a turnip. Good day.

I teach in an Illinois school, and notice that the students at the high school where I teach may still buy sodas out of the machines. If this is so, wouldn't my school be in trouble for allowing the sale of sodas if they are banned?
