It all depends. I know some kids abuse going to the restroom, so it depends if it's not being allowed to go the first time, or the fiftieth. In most schools I've gone to, if it's an emergency, the teacher allows the student to go (one at a time), and only stops them if it's too many times.

As a teacher in FL I've seen my share of students standing in the hallways for 5 minutes making absolutely NO attempt to use the facilities until the bell rings and then they rush into class complaining about the "lack of time to use the restroom". While this may not be your daughter, she can make use of the regularly scheduled breaks in class (in the morning before classes start, during lunch and as soon as the bell rings to dismiss at the end of the day) to use the restroom. If you daughter honestly cannot time her urinary needs to the schedule outlined by the school then she should see a doctor...

Ok, I was reading the answers, people didn't read it all the way through. You said your daughter has limited time between classes. In highschool, I had 3 minutes in between classes and I hardly made it to class on time. Everyone should be allowed to go the bathroom whenever they need to. When you gotta go you gotta go. If they get up quietly and walk out, it's not going to disrupt anything. And I would put up a big fuss at the school if my child's be punished because she had to go to the bathroom. I'd have it out with the prinicpal. That is the most ridiculous I've ever heard, deducting 2 points. If a teacher told me I couldn't go to the bathroom, I'd go anyway. Screw them. Children have rights and you don't have the right to deny them use of a bathroom. It's not something you can control. And all this bullshit about her socializing and putting makeup on, get over yourselves people! Not every girl is that vain. Anyway, she would have to go to the bathroom to do her makeup.

Stop by the school and ask to sit in the class room as the duty of a parent should be allowed. See if the teacher reacts to a request to use the restroom in front of an adult in the same way she would if you were not watching

I dont know about a law. A child being denied to go to the bathroom is very bad. IF the teacher doesnt let the child go to the bathroom then the child will go on themselves. Then thats when the teacher gets upset because the child used the bathroom on the flooor. But its the teachers fault for not letting the child go to the bathroom.

I haven't heard of a law pertaining to this either but I would tell your child to TRY to go to the bathroom before class and if she happens to have to go during class, to politely ask the teacher to let her go to the bathroom. If the teacher says no, I'd tell her to hold it until she can't anymore and then just get up and go use the bathroom. School is not a prison and going to the bathroom during class is not a crime. If the teacher suspends her or gives her detention, then I would take it to the principal. Honestly, I was never too intimidated of my teachers to not go when I had to go. Your child shouldn't be either.

I'm not sure if there was a law passed about it. But as a parent I would definately do something about it. My mom had to do the same thing whenever I was younger and a teacher refused me to go to the bathroom. They are not allowed to take away points from a grade for your child going to the bathroom because it has nothing to do with your child's class work.

I often deny my students the right to go to the washroom for many reasons. In this case, I would say your daughter would be better off limiting her socializing and make-up time and going to the restroom, which is a physical natural need, while she can socialize etc at other times. If socializing is more important for her then going to the washroom, I believe she makes a choice and must live with the consequences (having to hold it in).
How could we teach students that can go to the restroom as they please? They must learn to go at appropriate times.

I understand the place you're coming from yet you in addition to mght might desire to understand that rather some teenagers are lazy those days and use the "might i exploit the bathing room" as an excuse to get out of sophistication. If those "particular" teenagers did not lie approximately having to apply the bathing room then instructors does not be so strict approximately it, not basically that yet you have those teenagers who spend 30 to 40 minutes interior the bathing room i understand pooping takes longer than peeing yet 40 to 0.5 an hour? it rather is in simple terms outrageous. i don't understand how faculties artwork at present, I graduated some time past in ninety 8' thank god. yet whilst i became at college they gave us 4 bathing room passes for each semester, so if we used all of them and had to apply the restroom we would might desire to do makeup artwork for going to the bathing room as quickly as we already used up all our bathing room passes. Which i think of each and every college might desire to do, it might defiantly save rather some teenagers from asking to bypass to the bathing room whilst they actually do not might desire to.
