Everyone that asks a question about their IQ on here (the questioner is normally the person who has the average iq for i.e 95-110) the people who answer always seem to have the IQ of a genious? If the average IQ was 90-110 why the hell is everyone on here either iq 140 to 190 (yes someone said 190 iq and was serious!) And the people who answer 80 percent of time can't spell, can't form sentences properly, say invalid or impossible to know factual knowledge.... So the question stands... is yahoo answers full of ****? Oh! and they use big words on that certain question, and on their other answers on other topics, they talk like this : "lawl i kno liek lmao lolz! This is the most hopeless site on the internet, who ever says their iq is 140+ and lie about it have the IQ of a turnip. Good day.

Seems to me to be an accurate reflection of the IQs on the bell curve .25 above 130, .25 below 70, 95% within one standard devation of the mean.
In other words, seems like a representative sampling of the population of the planet, as well as can be measured in such a format. I enjoy the personalities more than trying to judge people. I like that I can say kind things to strangers, anonymously, maybe brighten someone's day. I don't care if people think I'm smart or not. As my mother always said, "I tried smart, and I tried nice, and I found nice was better." She had seven kids, and we all have graduate degrees. A fair, but not foolproof indicator of at least average IQ. Still, nice is so much more important to me than smart! I teach mentally handicapped kids, and they are mostly lovely people, a whole population of low IQ people many normal or better IQ persons misunderstand or ignore. Sort of an untapped resources of humanity.
God bless you.

The correct answer is : Yes! They are full of bs!

Most people are going to lie about their IQ, obviously. Either that or they've taken a faulty test and because of their lack of IQ, now think they're a genius.

This is mostly tickles fault. Tickle has spread one of the worst IQ tests on the internet as something legitamate, where the average score is around 120-130 rather than 100. You could expect scores in the 140's on this test to translate to as little as 110 on a real test.

I have done a mini study actually, on a forum of internet users.

The average IQ came out to be 110. I would expect this; most people that browse the internet are slightly above average intelligence. The IQ's I tested ranged from 98 to 157, most of them falling between 100 and 120.

However, the actual average would probably be closer to 105. This is due to two reasons: 1. People that score in the 90's or below either won't take the test or arn't proficient enough with the internet to figure it out in the first place.

However, 110 is a good estimate because there is a much higher degree of people on the internet that score over 120-130 than in a random population. What I did find though, however, was still scores of 140 or higher were extremely rare, even on the internet (and this was not due to test ceiling since the ceiling was purposly very high)

So there, myths be gone; people lie about their IQ, however, the test I used doesn't lie, I would say you would expect the average yahoo answers IQ to be about the same, around 110.

Language , especially written language is evolving, especially the way people type..
As for IQ's you can have all the IQ in the world, if you do not have any common sense and life experiences, and a certain amount of a global awareness and knowledge to back it up then IQ's alone means very little...

Unless you want the job of devising IQ tests..

And yes a lot of people on this website are not that well informed , or versed..

me for one...

anyways.. I urge you to take a look at my Q&A's and notice how few people have answered my MANY questions about Paul Wolfowitz and Leo Strauss, considering so many people like to argue it is strange that so few are able to answer a political question that does not involve stating what you hate about the opposition...

Anyways thats my two points worth I am sure...

G'day

And my typing is quite bad... sorry.

I can see there is a lot of foolishness on here, but there are some people who make the effort to give a good answer about something.

It seems to me it isn't necessarily a matter of IQ but of wish to try to share information about a subject someone knows something about. What someone knows and how quickly and easily someone is able to learn something or reason something out are two different things.

Don't use the site if you don't like it. Many people with very high IQ's don't talk about it, so maybe you're right about people who claim to have very high ones. I've come to see this site as a democratic operation with all kinds of different people contributing.

Well, I agree that there are a lot of silly questions and some pretty weird answers. There are also a lot of people who obviously don't type very well or write very well, but, hey, there are also some pretty good answers. Personally I'm not sure there's any such thing as a dumb question (but some of the questions I've seen here make me question that assumption). Nobody's twisting your arm to be here, so why not just relax and enjoy the ride or go somewhere else? BTW, your ability to make clear sentences might rate a C in my English class. Sorry. I try not to be negative, but I don't care much for people who complain without making much of a contribution.

There are alot of stupid young emo kids on here making it crapy for the rest of us - that actually do give real answers, spoekn in English.

In short though, Yahoo Answers is more of an entertainment tool than an actual place to find answers (honestly, Google and Wikipedia could answer 99% of the questions on here). So, in that sense, Yahoo Answers certainly is a load of shiat.

I mean, c'mon! It's the Internet! Do you tell the truth to everybody you encounter here? Even if these people are telling the truth, it's because they see this question and they can't resist pointing out how smart they are. Most of them are lying!
