Can you solve any of these word problems for me, and if you can, show me how? (easy)
1. The length of a rectangular field is 7 m less than 4 times the width. The perimeter is 136 m. Find the width and length.
2. A sugar Dud has 30 less than twice as many calories as a Krunchy Krum. If 5 sugar Duds have the same number of calories as 8 Krunchy Krums, how any calories are in each?
3. In a week Mike ran 8 km farther than Bill, while Pete ran 1 km less than 3 times as far as Bill. If Pete ran 15 km farther than Mike, how many kilometers did Bill run?

On Thursday, May 31st was the 80th Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. Evan M. O'Dorney, a thirteen year-old Californian boy, spelled the word serrefine (meaning small forceps to clamp a blood vessel) to win the championship. One of the greatest upsets was when Samir Patel incorrectly spelled clevis, c-l-e-v-i-c-e. What were your thoughts on the Bee? Did you think that there were challenging words? Who did you want to win? Who do you think will win next year? Who did you think would win this year? If you have ever participated in the National Bee, please share your experience. It's really strange to me and I think it's pretty annoying. I meet someone, they're very impressed with me, and think I'm awesome. Then they find out I don't go to school and all of a sudden I'm deprived?

You didn't know I was homeschooled until I told you...doesn't that negate your point?

Not preached, solicited, or put down, Students would learm ABOUT world religion in a single class. Of course, not all religions could be taught, but the most adhered to belief systems would be taught. I believe that the lack of teachers and money could be overcome, since I also believe that a class like this is becoming very important to our society. Also, I think it should be a choice class for high school students, since younger pupils may have more unstable beliefs.

Here's a little about me:
After I got my BA, I worked for a year in sales management, but I have been presenting at academic conferences that relate to my academic interests. Although I do not have a Sociology BA, I do have a BA in the humanities with a GPA of 3.67, and my research interests are directly related to sociology. I have excellent GRE scores, and undergraduate professors who can write excellent supportive recommendation letters. The reasons I'm thinking of not applying are as follows:
-It's HARVARD and it's very competitive
-I do not have an MA, even though this program does not require applicants to have one.
-My BA is not from a great college and it is not in Sociology.

The only problem is that she will make the ultimate decision. I'm very indecisive. I think I did good, the class liked it. My only fault was that I read some of my notes, but it was my first speech. Should I give myself an "A"? I just don't want her to think I'm arrogant.
