I’m stuck on this linear programming math problem. If you could please help point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.


A farmer has 20 days in which to plant corn and soybeans. The corn can be planted at a rate of 10 acres per day and the soybeans at a rate of 15 acres per day. The farm has 250 acres available for planting. If the profit of corn is $30 per acre, and the profit on soybeans is $25 per acre, how many of each should the farmer plant to maximize profit?

3 weeks ago she broke her leg and ankle while at school (on their faulty equipment!) has had to have extensive surgery to have metal plates and pins put in and has been told not to put any weight on it for at least the next 4 weeks. I've been in school to get some work for her so she doesn't fall behind but they are now being a bit awkward about it and sending just two sheets home for her. Although she's only 13 she is taking some GCSEs next year and it worries me that she isn't being kept up to speed. As the whole accident was down to the school's negligence anyway I need to know if she is entitled to receive as much work as the other pupils are getting.

I have what might seem like a really silly question. I have applied to a local university for the graduate program, and I REALLY want to be a teaching assistant, because I'd love the opportunity to teach some lower division classes. One of the requirements of the university (and many, so it seems) is that you file a FAFSA in order to even be considered for a TA or GA. Now, I know for some grad students the stipend they pay is what they survive on, but I really don't even want the salary. Additionally, I know with my salary, I won't qualify for any level of "financial need". So I have two questions: (1) is it normally required to HAVE financial need in order to be a grad assistant or teaching assistant, and (2) if it is, how can I get experience as a TA, since I want to teach college after I finish my grad program?

Hi there,

A rather upsetting day today.......a 13 year old girl made me, a teacher, cry in class. She insulted me personally, my lessons, my abilities and what I did the day before. The worst part is, when she saw me distressed, she smiled and said "did I make you cry?". It is really not her actions that upset me, but the fact that she derived pleasure from seeing my distress.

What is it that make some children cruel and lack empathy? Some children are lovely and kind but with others - I'm at a loss to explain. I believe I treat them fairly and I am always prepared to play games with them to make the lesson fun and exciting, but some of the students seem to delight in making teachers suffer.

I am sorry and sad, I like teaching and I like sharing what I know with children. However, this young lady of 13years has really hurt me and I am doubting that I'll return to school come Monday.

Is it nature? Nurture? A lack of discipline during upbringing?
