A very good motivation for going to school or applying yourself in school can be acquired by not going to school. Sounds conflicting doesn’t' it? I graduated High School in 1998. Since then, I’ve spent the last few years in go nowhere jobs, mostly call center jobs and fast food. If you work these long enough and see your friends (who went to school and applied themselves) being successful, you will become consistently motivated. School is a challenge not a punishment. I finally went back this semester because I'm sick of my pathetic $12.50 an hour job at Cingular Wireless. There is nowhere to move up to and school is the only ticket out. Other jobs in my area pay even less than that, unless you carry a degree with a good GPA. So after examining myself a little bit, I found the motivation I needed by picturing my future if I didn't go, or if I didn't apply myself, as well as not having went for a long time. So being that you already going to school, show yourself a scenario of what will happen by not applying him/herself or quitting. Going to school is a once in a lifetime chance to prepare yourself, so do well and give a consistent effort.

Treat school as though it's your job. 9 to 5. Just like a hard working fireman works, you work your butt off 9 to 5. Even if you finish you assignments, find other things to study related to you subjects. I was a terrible high school student ... but when I when to college (UT Austin) I used this 9-5 concept and graduated w/ a 3.97 gpa (that's 1 B and the rests A's) ... This system works, trust me.

You have to be the one to put forth more effort in school. No one person can do it for you, all they can do is give you suggestions on how to do it for yourself and why you should do it for yourself.
School is there for you. It is totally up to you what you put into it and what you get out of it.
Maybe if you stopped and thought about the consequences with your lack of interest in school and where it will not get you then you will wisen up and buckle down to do better. They are your goals and you have to make your goals work for you. Think about your goals, what you want to achieve, where you want to go in life. Doing poorly in school and not putting your best foot forward is not going to prepare you at all for the future once you are on your own.
If you need to take a little journey, look around you and soak in the ones that could care less, their attitude, there non-commitment to them self. Now look at the ones that commit them self to accomplishing their goals and doing the best they can with their school work.
Which category do you want to be in? Which category would prepare you better for your life ahead?
It is up to you.

Motivation comes from within yourself. You have decide what's important to you. Why is it important to do well in school. Because you want to graduate? Because you want to go on to the next degree? Because you have a family and need better earning potential? I don't know how old you are, or what your situation is. If you're in high school or college but you really just need to decide for yourself what makes it important to you, and then decide what you want to do about it and stick to it.
