I am an English teacher living in China, and I am having a hard time reaching my students. All they want to do is play games that will not help increase their vocabulary or their understanding of English and they play dumb all the time even though many of them are intelligent. I could really use some advice from other teachers of English who are or have been in a similar situation. Bascially, I just need some fun, interesting lesson plan ideas that will make them want to learn English. I really want to them to leave my classroom at the end of this classroom with more knowledge than when they came into it. I'm really sick of the answer, "I don't knowa." Thanks for all your help.

I am on financial aide probation. If I don't complete at least full time this semester I will lost my aide for a year. This past summer I was enlightened to the fact that there is a thing if you drop so many classes, it hurts your completion-dropped ratio. I am a junior and until now I always registered for classes and then dropped them if I didn't think I could get an A.

I have been VERY sick for 3 wks (bladder/kidney/yeast infection of the mouth, causing me not to eat and losing 15 lbs). 1 prof wants me to drop after explaining to him the situation and I haven't heard back from the 2 others.

Can they hold this against me?

Would you take two science courses in one semester while working two jobs? The chemistry course has a lab but the biology course doesn't.

Also, sense Chemistry is all about memorizing, then it wouldn't be a good idea to take Political Science along with chemistry ... would it? lol, yes I'm a very confused college student who wants answers from her peers ...

A pentagon with all 5 sides the same size has the same perimeter as an octagon in which all 8 sides are the same size. One side of the pentagon is 2 less than 3times the length of one side of the octagon. Find the perimeters.

I know the formula is 3-2x = something.... Do i multiply this formula by 8 and 5 and have it equal each other? showing 8(3-2x)=5(3-2x) or am i going about this totally incorrectly? I love when I'm given math problems and there's no reference in the book as to what the perimeter of an octagon or pentagon is. I did search online and found that the sum of all 5 sides of a pentagon is the perimeter and same goes for octagon where the sum of all 8 sides = the perimeter.
