There are a few sources for locating scholarships for free. There are many scholarships out there so do not give up hope of locating one. However, it is pretty competitive.

First, I recommend applying in January or as early as you can with FAFSA.ed.gov because it will help you tap into need based financial aid from the federal government and college.

Second, if you will be attending a college within your state, instate students can get grants if they are a resident of it. It can be located by searching your state government's website.

Third, your high school guidance office, if a currently a high school student, has a list of local scholarships for its students.

Fourth, the college financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships from companies and organizations. Sometimes your potential major will have a list of scholarships listed on its web page, too.

Finally, there are free membership scholarship search websites, and I recommend joining several of them. Most are updated on a regular basis.

Good luck!

I in no way gained a scholarship, and that i went to a private college my first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days such as you would be. I left that college and went to a state college, and it grew to become into the proper determination of my existence. regrettably now I somewhat have $30,000 in deepest loans. =[ except you are going to an ivy league college, there is not any reason to pass to a private college. i'm hoping you recognize this previously you're in extreme debt. i comprehend your finished relatives is all "pass GET some SCHOLARSHIPS!!!", however the possibilities of you getting one are slender to none. do no longer ignore your FAFSA besides, that should offer you ~$8000 in Stafford loans.
