Ok... here it goes.
we start out with a powder that is half powdered sugar(C12H22O11), and half Chalk(Calcium carbonate). Measure out one gram of the mixture. What are some ways to seperate the two powders(the chalk and sugar) from each other? We have HCL, Bunsen Burners, H2O, filter paper, and instuments to mix. how can they be separated?

I have absolutely no idea how to solve this...

It says use trig identities to transform one side of the equation into the other.

(tan(beta)+cot(beta))/tan(beta)=csc^2(beta)

Is it not too early. Is this not one of the reasons we have lots of drop outs. Every one knows how kids do things. Tell them something, they want to try it, they want to know how it works, then think about the consequencies later. Most of them get pregnated between the age of 14 and 16. How can they take care of those children when they themselves are still kids. Lets say there was no welfare system in this country what will they do.Some do realize their mistakes and correct it, but most dont, send them back to school no result and by the time most are 18 they have two to three kids with different dads and those kids also grow up following the same foot steps.

I should know this by now as a recent college graduate but what do professors mean when, in certain survey courses, they talk about "the big picture?"

For example, in a history course about the U.S., one would mention the "big picture." Do they mean that we, as students, need to grasp the time frame and area of when something happened?
