I remember them well. Does anyone else have any interesting memories from the past?

Ah! Not so Sweet Pea brain. It is very annoying when you can't understand what a person has written. Punctuation adds expression and understanding to a piece of writing. Without it a sentence doesn't make sense - a bit like you really - sucker!

I'm with you on this one - all that new stuff is fine (to an extent) when time is a constraint, but it looks absolutely hideous and you lose the flow of structure (so it sounds pretty grim too). I've been trying to cut down on my commas - I tend to over use them (they are so lovely).

There is a book - "Eats shoots and leaves" Punctuate that title how you will, and the differing meanings achieved will show the importance of correct punctuation. The content of the book offers a good insight into the matter. I think many people have not been taught to correctly punctuate, and others either don't care or are too lazy to bother

Wow, y'all are a bunch of old fuddy-duddies! Why should a new technology be limited to standard English writing? Bor-ing! I mean, I use proper grammar because it got trapped in my head as a child (good memory--can't help myself) but I don't really care all that much if other people don't. Why are you so threatened by it? Are you longing for the good old days when People capitalized every Noun? Like People were too stupid to realize a Noun was coming? What does it even matter?

I used to fret a little more about grammar, but then I grew up and realized that there are about a billion things that are more important. You oughta try realizing the same thing. It's very liberating.

But thanks for the two points! Sucka!

People should learn to spell and use correct punctuation. On a text I can understand as you have limited room. People type how they talk, although sometimes, it doesn't make the word that much shorter. EG: M8, L8R, UR : yes, these are significally shorter to type. WIV, DA, OWT : what's the point?

(I'll shut up now!)

Oh, the semi colon; the joys it once brought me. The days when apostrophes meant "belonging to" or "missing letter" not "ends in an 's'". Remember when words had vowels?

Oh stop, you're making me all nostalgic.

They died with the advent of chat rooms and mobile phones.
