Teachers are some of the most needed but yet lowest paid people in our society and there are quite a few who have gone on strike or quit because of the conditions under which they have to work. Why then, should people be making it harder to enter a profession where there is already a high demand and a decreasing supply?

Teaching a lesson about self worth- minus the fancy cars and diamonds. Suggestions?

I'm trying to figure out an art activity to do with a group of high school students that touches on the issues of race and the importance of brand names, jewelry, fancy cars and that all too important Dom Perignon in hip hop culture. Any suggestions? SO appreciated. I'm drawing a blank. I was thinking of working with magazines somehow, but ... I don't know.

How fast has your fafsa been processed before?

I am late filing mine and I just found out classes start next week. I did mine last week and a lot of people have said 1-2 wks to process. My school said they "dl fafsa info from the database" every thursday. So this thursday it probably won't be processed right? Next week maybe?

*I figure school starts on monday and tuition is due by that friday. If it isn't processed by then I will have my prof's write an overload add/drop slip. Will it work?

Solve For x: 4) x(squared) - 7x - 30 = 0
Simplify: 36x(squred)y(squared) / 42xy(to third power)
and x(squared) - 2x - 35 / 42xy(to third power)
Solv for x: 4x / 54 = 2 / 3
Solve by substitution: {x = 2y - 3 and 3x + y = 5 }

How do I deal with an unfair shcool policy?

My child just started third grade. In the first grade, she was given an IQ test and was certified as a "gifted child". She is an all "A" student - receiving a Principles Honor every grading period. This year, the gifted class was split up into two classes “all gifted” and “mixed”. My daughter was placed in “mixed” class together with 4 other "gifted" children, who are “C” students. I've pleaded with the school principle asking her to move my daughter back to the “all gifted” class. I’ve used various arguments including (a) new students were just admitted to the program that should have first gone to the less advanced class, (b) my daughter is not challenged enough in the lower class. Despite all my pleas, the Principle refuses to move her to the appropriate class stating “that class is full” – yet I am aware of another child (less capable) who was switched to the “all gifted” class – due to her parents influence in the community. This is unfair. What can I do?

Arts & Crafts ideas for 2 year olds?

I'm looking for fun and easy projects to do with my preschool class. This is my first year at this, and although I've read books, I'm looking for fresh/new ideas. Anything that will help them learn shapes, colors, abc's, numbers, or just for fun, will be very much appreciated. Also, I'm looking for some good songs to help them learn, or a website where I can find some. Thanks!
