well, I suppose I'm as qualified to answer as anybody else.

Economists are those that study and develop theories pertaining to the study of economics. Economists come in many varieties - many of us study entire economies (macroeconomists), mathematical economics, econometrics, finance, and of course, microeconomics, which itself covers fields such as public economics, international trade theory (my specialty), simply microeconomic theory, etc.
