Have a look at this phone, at the back on the right hand side of mirror there is a semi-circle like thing, (NOT THE MIRROR), i can take it out - what is it?

I click connect and it seems like its about to connect but suddenly it says 'Initailizing...please wait.' then it just stops trying to connect I dont get how to download my songs onto the phone at all. Nothing will work. Can someone please help!
