Have a look at this phone, at the back on the right hand side of mirror there is a semi-circle like thing, (NOT THE MIRROR), i can take it out - what is it?

those 2 idiots that answerd before me are stupid as hell!that is a light that sony ericsson uses to get a better lightning around him for a better photos!!

So far as I am aware it is a cover for the external aerial socket. It is generally not used and I don't know of any devices that actually use it.

A lot of old phones (the bricks) used to have it exposed on the back.

I think this is a hole for an antenna booster in your car. Some Nokia phone has the rubber cap to cover it.
