1. Yes, if you buy an UNLOCKED GSM mobile phone from a reputable seller on eBay you can set it up to work with T Mobile. You could either go to your local T Mobile store and purchase a SIM card and set up the prepaid service at the same time. The customer support is really good - they will help you set up your phone even if you don't purchase it from them.
2. Yes, if it's an UNLOCKED GSM phone from Sony Ericsson it will work with T Mobile Pay As you Go or their regulary monthly cellular services.
3. When you first sign up for the Pay As you Go it's always best to sign up for $100 worth of time right off the bat. It will be a total of 1000 minutes and they expire 1 year from the date of purchase. If $100 dollars isn't in your budget, start off with atleast $25. They have denominations in the following - $10, $25, $50 and $100. The time expires after 90 days but if you refill prior to the expiration date, the minutes you have at the time will rollover when you refill.
Once you've purchased over $100 worth of minutes you're automatically enrolled in the Gold Rewards program. Gold Rewards Whenever, like Whenever Minutes, are minutes that can be used at any time and anywhere on T-Mobile's nationwide network. However, when you become a Gold Rewards customer by adding $100 in refills, you get at least 15% more minutes on all refills and your minutes won't expire for a year.

dunno bout the 1st 2 questions but I know the minutez expire after about a month I think. if u keep buying calling cards eventually they wont expire for until like a year. but when u buy a calling card is $25 for like 100 minutes. In my opinion the whole pay as u go for t mobile was a rip off for me. I ran out of minutes every week. its cheaper just to get a plan wit t mobile that isnt pay as u go
