I am a student and I am developing a website. I have coded an rss feed onto my web page which links to another website. However I think I need to have a web address myself before I can get it to work properly. Does anyone know if there is another way of getting it to work without a web address. If not how do I get one? A free one if possible.

Someone says they can't view the flash on this page, but it works in all the top browsers. They are looking at it on a school computer and get audio but no sound.

Suppose I have an array of 8 numbers x(1)=.15, x(2)=.50, x(3)=.02 etc. where x(1) + x(2) + x(3) ... x(8) = 100%

I want to write a subroutine that generates random numbers 1-8 where the chance of a 1 is 15%, the chance of a 2 is 50%, the chance of a 3 is 2%, etc. - according to the percentages in my table.

I just want an idea how to do it, not the actual code.... thanx!

I never did this b4 nor i have any idea if this work. please tell me if this works or not..

right now i have 100% working OS with softwares n there updates. OS with software is in C: drive n nothing more in it. size is about 6.5GB.

say i have backed up the entire C: drive in DVD, n due to some reason i had to format my OS drive erasing all the softwares n updates.

if i install the OS again after formatting, is it possible that i copy paste/overwrite the OS with the back up i made consisting of the installed softwares,updates.

will the running OS allow overwriting? or i will i have to overwrite it in dos mode, n if in dos mode then what will be the commands for it.

gets fed up with installing softwares wasting time in updates...so was wondering if i can cut the installing n updating part as i have quite a lot softwares installed.


I use winxp pro as my OS.

Can someone please explain how to write a Count Sort or Quick Sort in VB or VBA? I need a step by step explanation with some example code.

I'm wanting to learn how to program a Count sort due to it's fast processing of large arrays.

The sort method will be used to match the values in two columns in Excel. Fast matching techniques for large arrays is what I want to focus on.

I can write a macro that matches the data up, however I want to improve the speed of my macro for large lists of data.

If there is another method that works better I'd be open to learning that. I'm not interested in learning the Bubble Sort method. It is too slow for my large lists.

I am doing a quiz project for the school exam. I have to check if file length of a file is zero ( concept of files). Can I use tellg() ?
I am implementing it in a class .Then I use if() statement to check if file length of a file which stores the quiz questions is zero( i.e there are no questions). If it is zero Then I invoke another function asking the user to input questions first.
Here should i use tellg() to check if there are no questions in the file.


P.s: I don't want it to be too complex...as I've been learning c++ only from june 2006

consider str is a variable of type String.

(1)if( str.toLowerCase() == "answer" )
will ALWAYS NO MATTER WHAT return FALSE.

(2)if( str.equalsIgnoreCase ( "answer" ) )
will return TRUE if the condition is met.

The above is the code I have written for a program. Unfortunately, when I try statement (1) it ALWAYS return false. In other language (I've learned C), the statement is correct. Why is Java interpreting it wrongly?

What is the difference between condition (1) and (2)?
Why is that condition in (1) will always return False?

A long and detailed explanation is highly appreciated. Thx.

Write a fully-documented class named RequestQueue that must be derived as a subclass of Vector from the Java API. You should provide a constructor and the standard methods enqueue(), dequeue(), size(), and isEmpty() as were discussed in lecture.

DOES that mean that I gotta have a vector object as a private member and make that object work as a queue using functions from the vector class, but at the end I will have my deque, enque, size, empty......

is my thought right or not?

and on the header of the class I would have something like:

public class RequestQueue extends Vector
{
..............
}
if I have extends....I don't see the point because I could simply put this before the class header...

I think the question is pretty clear. Just to specify that it's about development of web sites, not some local use.

Please answer if you have experience with at least 2 of these platforms and can compare them from your experience.
