Advantages - (ditto the above) you can have a record of all communications; also, instantly available communications, like a phone call, but typed, composable, editable beforehand, so's you can think about what you're going to say (maybe) before you send it, and (maybe) even edit it and calm down and pull back harsh or over-enthusiastic words...
Disadvantages - someone *else* can unscrupulously have a record of all communications: never post in an email anything you wouldn't want posted on a public billboard; you'll most certainly get spam; you have to check your email often (it's like a bunch of phone calls, waiting to be answered); you have to be careful not to open unsolicited or suspicious email (possibility of viruses or phishing)...

HTML is the markup language used by browsers. Doesn't matter if the page is a php or asp file, the code written to the page is HTML. Even Flash only sites use HTML. So, right now, there is NO disadvantages. It is very Search Engine friendly as Flash is not. PHP/ASP have no bearing on the SEs as they still write HTML. Ron

Good is you can send and receive messages from anybody in the world almost instantly. Its cheap or free.
Bad you get SPAM, SPAM, SPAM. because its so easy and cheap everybody in the world uses it for SPAM! Most sites block 90% of the spam, but still its sad that we can't do more about it!
