I am a complete beginner to programming, but have to learn C++ next year at uni so thought I would give myself a bit of a headstart. The book that the course is based on is "C++ How To Program" by Deitel & Deitel. Is this a good book for me to start to learn with, someone said somewhere that it contains lots of OOP (whatever that is, and apparently its hard to learn). Could someone enlighten me please.

If you don't think this is a good book, could you please recommend one for me (remember, I am a complete beginner, the only programming I have done is a pit of BASIC for picaxe ICs).

I've got a little application and a simple potentially multi-page document within this application that I want to let the user print. How do I do this?

Right now I can select file->print when the document is open and it'll print the document in a tiny recangle in the upper left hand corner of the page.

I have a table with a float datatype. I create a record, and set the value of the field to .06, but the database stores it as 5.9999999999999998E-2. If I assign the value 1.06, it is stored as 1.0600000000000001. If I assign the value 110.06 to the field, it is stored as 110.06. How can I force the databse to retain only the precision I assign the field in my SQL, without modifying the schema, so that even small amounts like .06 are stored to two decimal points?

We're making our own T-Shirts in a class I'm in and I don't want to get into any legal issues but I want to put a quote said by a charater on my favorite TV show because obviously I can't use their copywritten symbols in my work without the rights.

But another designer told me I couldn't use anything they said either because the scripts are copywritten as well and even if I give the person credit for saying it.

Does anyone know if this is true?

I'm not selling anything. It's just for personal use on a class assignment.

My question is two-fold as I am new at my space. I would like to know how to hide my last log in. I have been all over the net and the codes given do not work because you have to put something in the city block and it is too long of a code. That block only allows 50 characters. And the other question is I have a picture I want as my page, how do I get it to show up? I have tried to edit backgrounds and all I see are the white boxes. Do I have to make it transparent, center? Help I am so lost. ANY LINKS, help would be greatly appreciated.
