How do you type in a heart and feagures on the computer?

NOT THE WORDS, THE ACTUAL SYMBOLS.

You press the alt key and then press a number or a number of different numbers. For example like:
alt+1=☺
alt+2=☻
alt+12=♀
alt+952=╕
There are a lot more number combinations, some combinations might end up the same like alt+3=♥ and alt+259=♥ too.

Well, I was trying what Hannah said to do, but it isn't working, I was goin to send a heart and it isn't working, darn it all.....
