when the screen comes up to the desk top. A box pops up and reads run error 5. What does it mean?

I have burned several cd's using nero and they played great in my car. I recently burned a cd using real player and it won't work. All cds are CD-R and i tried the lowest write speed. any suggestions? I no longer have nero.

The new operating system looks very very cool. You have to check it out. Based on the previews I saw for Leopard, the system looks totally revolutionary. If it works well, Leopard will be to operating systems what Star Wars was to Sci-Fi Movies.

When online, I sometimes experience a delay in my computer that ends up playing audio clips in the background of my computer. Because there is no video or text box, I cannot access it to close it and when I try to detect it using Windows Task Mgr, there is nothing listed. Please Help!

I have the following directories that are located on my C: drive

Funk
Pop
Soundtracks
Unknown Artist
Reggae_Tracks

While I am at the C: promp in the windows\system32\command.com window, I tried the following.

cd Funk
-- this takes me to C:\Funk> no problems

cd Pop
-- this takes me to C:\Pop> no problems

cd Soundtracks
-- I get the following error message:
Invalid directory

I know the directory exists because when I did dir c: I saw the folder there.

What is the proper dos format while using "cd" in order to handle
a) long file names
b) specail characters.
c) spaces

Hi, I have the WRT54G v8 router. We have two computers in the house that are connected with wireless PCI cards. One is a laptop and the other is a desktop. The laptop has vista and the desktop has XP. When trying to transfer a 1gb file from the desktop to the laptop, the internet connection drops and I had to restart the modem for it to work again. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this, am I doing anything wrong or is there nothing I can do?

I have an HP Pavilion notebook with an "HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N" drive. This is the drive I use to play games, watch DVDs, and "used to" burn CDs. It worked a few months ago. I used to use "Imation" brand cds, until it quit working. I've also tried "Memorex" and "Dynex", but they've never worked. Anytime I try to burn a cd now, "Roxio Creator Classic" freezes for seven minutes then ejects the disc. Itunes also spits the disc out. I'm sure the discs are empty, I'm even using the discs from the same package as the one's that did work.

I am going to sell my old PC, and want to remove all the programs from it, as they are all licensed to me. I thought I had successfully uninstalled all programs and Windows 98 (yeah, it's old!), but when I restarted, the backup kicked in and recovered Windows, all the programs I'd just removed, and a bunch of other programs that had been uninstalled ages ago. Help?!

I've worked on many friends computers and I'm always looking for a better or easier way to do things. The same diversity that makes computers so great can make it very difficult to sort through all the programs in existence to find one that suits your needs. There is more ways to do the same thing, after all.

I ask that you list your top 5 favorite utility programs or CD boot diagnostics sets. Remember that programs and hardware are virtually the same in a sense so I guess you can include utility hardware also. Please give a brief explanation why you picked your selection. This will help me understand and for others who happen to drop in on this one as well.

i have excel 2007 home and student version and i am on windows vista. if i were to record a macro into the personal workbook so that i could bring it up in any excel workbook, what are the exact steps. the macro would be the name "my first macro" and i would like it to be called by pressing keys such as CNTL M, or something of your choice, just to get me starteed doing macros. If you would like to guide me in utilizing a button on my toolbar to call up a macro, that would even be better. but i would also require step by step on that. i once did a macro. i have the info on how to do it, but i've become dumbified or something in the macro process, it just hasn't been happening for me, and i don't know why, please help! note, when i tried a macro last night, the i went to run it, i got an error message stating that i must use "unhide". so i believe i am going in circles or something. ,

I have 3 used computers: a Packard Bell from 1996, a Dell from 1999, and an HP from 2001, that I don't need anymore and I want to sell them. My parents first told me to sell them, but then they told me that even if you reformat the hard drive, someone can get your personal data from it, so they told me it's not safe to sell them. First, is this true? I know how to reformat the hard drives and restore them, but if I sold them afterwards, would they really be able to somehow extract our personal info? Second, what would be the best way to sell them? I know I can post an ad on craigs list or whatever, but how do I figure out what's a fair amount to sell each for? I have about 3 weeks to do this before I go back to college, I'd really appreciate some help on this!

I tryed to get on the internet and a window popped up and said this...You have attempted to establish a connection with "rmd.atdmt.com". However , the security certificate presented belongs to "a248.e.akamai.net". It is possible, though unlikely, that someone maybe trying to intercept your communication with this website. If you suspect the certificate shown does not belong to "rmd.atdmt.com", please cancel the connection and notify the site administrator. all i did was go online to my homepage which is a verizon homepage. this happened to 2 of my computers at the sametime.

Is there some way I can get my PC to work from only ONE OS?
