I need to brighten a picture but I don't want to download a program or anything. Can you give me some links to sites where it lets you just do it online? Thanks!

The most elegant way to do that is to use a levels tool in the photo program you have. In Photoshop, the way to do this it to go to Image > Adjustments > Levels. Then adjust the black threshold, white threshold and then adjust the mid-tone until you see what you like. This will only work well if your computers monitor is correctly calibrated, but if not, still better than the dark image you are alluding to.
