I have been trying to copy a file from a CD into my laptop. I have been getting the data error (cyclic redundancy check). I have tried copying the CD using other PCs.

For info, I am using XP SP2 for my laptop.

I have tried using Windows 2000, XP SP1, XP SP2 (my desktop). All copied fine, with no problems whatsoever.

Initially, my laptop system was in FAT32 format. That was the only difference compared to the other systems. I thought that was the issue so I converted it to NTFS using convert.exe method. But still did not solve the issue.

My only guess is my CDrom drive. Using Matshita UJDA755 DVD/CDRW combo. Perhaps my settings doesn't allow the CD
read the last part of the disc (yes the .cab was towards to end)

Gonna try cleaning the lens to see if it works.
Oh, btw, other files copied well, except for this particular .cab file
Even other .cab files copied OK.

Hope someone will be able to help me here. Thanks !

I just found out today that in January of 2007, Windows will have a new operating system even better than XP. I've heard that people have beta versions of those and I'll love to get my hands on one....what sites do I need to go to to receive one of those? Who has one and what do you think of it?

I have an older Mac laptop, a new PC and a new PC-based printer. How do I go about setting up a wireless network so both computers can use the printer? Hopefully, as inexpensively as possible.

I have been searching for a specific fic I read ages ago. If anyone knows where it is, that would be great.
Jack locks carter in a supply closet (or something similar), as a practical joke, not knowing she is claustrophobic.
I can't find it anywhere. thanks for your help :)

I see that Amazon has this Unbox thing were you can purchase and download television programs, movies etc. to your computer. Is it possible to then burn these things to a dvd? Is it protected? If it is, is there anyway around it? I mean I already paid for the stuff, why can I not make a copy for myself?
