Computers & Internet - 17 August 2006

I'm thinking about building a new desktop. I'm a regular reader of maximum pc but those mobos are ridiculously pricey and way beyond my purposes. I'd like a new setup that can handle heavy burning, graphic apps like CS2 & Macromedia apps, and keep up with the current trends NOT the current gaming community. Any ideas? Thanks.

i use fire fox then when i go to the process its be like 140 and that to much then my comp starts gnoig slow can some one tell me how to make my comp run better when its slow becasue of firefox or how to like lower the process a little bit

I was having trouble starting it up, it would power up but nothing will show on the screen.. i can hear the hd, cpu fan and cd-roms spinning but no screen.. so i went and got a brand new motherboard, cpu, hd and power supply... i made sure i installed everything correct, i checked all the jumpers on da motherboard but everything looks ok, i even tried different ram and video card but nothing... what else can be the problem??

I own a dell computer with the windows xp package. My computer has a fax modem in it but for some reason it has stopped working. Any suggestions I could try, perhaps step by step instructions of things to try? Any help would be appreciated. No use having it if I can't use it.

I removed the harddrive from my hp desktop n i'm placing it in a new case with a new motherboard, cpu etc.. goin from celeron to athlon.. so anyways at what point do i insert the drivers installation cd n will i have trouble with windows xp?? i wanna access everything on my old harddrive just like i used to but faster much faster..

My brand new computer I waited over ten years to get got a bug yesterday, computer was froze in a sense, the phone technician at dell went through step by step to rectify the problem, we restored it to an earlier date, and microsoft melicious software remover kicked in, it is now working fine but I am very nervous to look up anything now, and download anything!

Lately our router or something like it was acting up pretty bad so we had to do without it with our only protection from things on the net being Zone Alarm. But just a matter of minutes ago I opened up the window, checked what was going on in general with it, and then it said "not responding" at the top. I tried exiting out of it and the window wouldn't close, then when it finally closed it disappeared from those small icons at the bottom right hand of my screen right next to the time. So what happened?? I know Answers is safe to use because it never said that any access attempts had been blocked while I was on here but when I wasn't on the net there would be several access attempts blocked, even some that were highly rated according to ZA. I tried searching for it on my computer but it came up with NOTHING.

I was wondering the importance of what tech school you go to or is it better to go to a university. I want to make a secure career for myself and am thinking of ITT Tech, what do you professional people think of that? Would I be better off going 4 years at a University. ITT is credited so is that all that matters?
