My CD drive is a samsung CD-RW, my DVD drive is a Lite-on DVD-R, they have both been working ever sense i went on vacation about a week ago, and now, its like they disappeared off of my computer. i can still open and close them, but, when i put a CD in, it doesnt read them. They also dont show up in the device manager.

Almost everywhere you look nowadays, you can see a new notebook advertised for $399 to $499, after rebates. These poorly equiped laptops are destroying the value of older laptops. And I'm not talking about 2000 built laptops, I'm talking about laptops sold 3 months ago. I've tried selling a 1500 laptop I bought less than 3 months ago and the best offers I got were 500 bucks. Of course these fools don't realize that the cheapos at Best Buy are poorly equiped and mine is packed to the gills. Whatever. It's total market saturation.

Sometime ago EKARU sent me to a website (this it was MS) to download a program that would automatically run @ 2am and look for adware/spyware. The download was free and it would show me the threat and how much of a threat it was to my computer - I can't remember the name of it I just know that it worked ... Im having the same problems as I was before and would like to find this program again.

I use spybot but its just not as effective and MacAfee & other virus software is just way to expensive.

Your help is appreciated.

It started when i bought a bluetooth adaptor - this wouldn't install, and the software that it came with (Blue Soleil) will not uninstall, no matter what i do it always starts up whenever i boot up the computer. i'm still using Windows 98, so probably need to upgrade that, but don't want to waste my money unless the computer will be able to recognise USB devices and removee that bloody programme!

Hi, I have a website and I would like to create a members-only type section in the website. Users would be able to register and then describe their car (my website is www.2000montecarlo.com, and currently has a registry). the registry would need to be searchable and allow people to log in and out - that sort of thing.

the reason i would like to know is because i am switching servers for my site, and need to get my registry moved over. however, at the same time i would like to re-design the registry and make it much better. does anyone know of a place/company/individual who I could hire, or get to help me with this - at a reasonable price?
