I understand that limewire is good but has drawbacks such as bringing in viruses. I don't know much about Ares Lite but I have seen it mentioned here several times. So which one is better please ?

I use nothing more than limewire, i get a 6700 kb song in 34 sec, at download spike of 245.9 kbs a sec , I can get more but i trust lime
as far as network security, look for patterns, like files with the sam kb size, or all in weird formats, or songs in zips
there is no such thing as safe file sharing, NO NETWORK is safe not ares, wich is nothing more thana bittorent, and kazaa and imesh were built on trojans

like you i dont know about the Ares Lite... but with limewire not only did a get a couple of viruses but it took up way too much room on my computer and i hated that it was constantly running when i was on the internet it bogged my puter down even when i wasnt using it.

i have been using limewire for a long time and have never been attacked by viruses... touch wood. the idea is to spot very early which can be the virus-infected files...

Limewire, if you're smart, you'll never get a virus. Just look at the file size.

ares it the best..there are no possibilties of getting viruses using ares..im a regular user of ares and limewire..and i suggest ares
