There are lots of deer on the highway my boyfriend and I drive everynight. There is a hill, and often there are deer at the bottom of it, usually (so far) not on the road, but darn close! I'm worried that if we encounter a deer at the bottom of that hill, we are going 60 mph, and we can't stop, how do we protect ourselves if we hit it? Like, if the windshield breaks, to avoid serious injury, how should we protect ourselves?

I need to drive from Vancouver to Toronto around Christmas. Don't try to stop me because I have to and I cannot take flight. I am driving VW Passat with all-season tires. Is it needed to replace all of the tires with winter tires?

If it is needed, how about Goodyear Nordic? My current tire is 195/65/R15, which size is recommended?

Thanks

i just saw an infomercial for a product called 'towtruck in a box'. it seems like a real good idea but I dont want to pay $30.00 for a sheet of metal. Does anyone know the best thing or at least a good thing to keep in your trunk that u can slide under your tires to get traction when you tire or tires are stuck in snow. I know I've used my car mats before but that was just b/c they were handy ??

It would be worth a rise in the price of gas to get rid of these ugly monsters, and put them in the junk yard where they belong.

Travel on any motorway nowadays and MOST drivers are doing 80-90mph safely. All these are breaking the law because of an archaic speed limit set in the 60's,when the max speed of say a Ford Anglia was 90mph and it took ages to stop safely.Modern cars are safer and can stop in half the distance of a Ford Anglia.Surely it is time to raise the speed limit...40 years is a long time...I don't condone over-fast driving when it's wet or foggy only sensibly fast on a dry safe day.The pollitically correct brigade will surely go against the idea so will the cash-grabbing "safety" cameras brigade.

Car1 waits to turn left at an intersection. Light turns yellow, car1 starts turning left. A running pedestrian decides to cross street to beat yellow light, so car1 stops turning to let pedestrian thru. At the same time, car2 from oncoming traffic, initially not noticing car1, decided to beat yellow light also.

Car1, seeing that car2 can't stop in time to avoid collision, faces a dillema. If car1 moves to avoid the collision, there's barely enough room to just miss the pedestrian. Should car1 move forward a bit, making sure not to hit the pedestrian and just absorb the impact of collision at the rear end, hope for the smallest impact? What if there's a child in the backseat, is it worth the risk? Or should car1 move to entirely avoid the collision and try to maneuver to avoid hitting pedestrian? What if car1 fails in the maneuver and hits pedestrian? If collision is avoided but pedestrian is struck, should car2 also be liable for the hit?

I like having a car club for emergencies and have been with AAA for decades, but they're not cheap and aren't always that reliable. Has anyone had any experience with any other service or club providing emergency roadside assistance? I'm not talking about OnStar or something that comes with a new car. My car has 184,000 miles and I need the peace of mind from belonging to a car club.

Thanks for your responses.

I don't think the driving age should be raised, but I know people who do. What do you think? Should the driving age be changed, or is it fine the way it is?

What state do you live in and do they require state inspection of your vehicle? If your state doesn't have it do you think they should and if your state does have it do you think they shouldn't? I'm just curious as to what people think? If it's a waste of time and money or if it is a good idea for safety reasons. I think every state should have it and I live in Pennsylvania.
