several years back, the US government bullied all the states into raising the drinking age to 21.
the main reason was that 18 yr olds were not responsible with their drinking, and caused many accidents.
my solution would have been at age 18 you went to some bureaucrat and he asked you Drive or Drink? and you could have a license to do one or the other. (this might actually be a good idea up until age 25 or so.)
You could change from one to the other whenever you wanted.
As to younger kids... i think mandatory driver's education makes a heck of a lot more sense, i am happy to see many juristictions do this.

No, the driving age should not be raised. Most teenagers have enough maturity and responsibility to handle driving. And if they don't
then pay the consequences. I got my license at 16 and 8 months later no wrecks and no tickets. Getting driven around by your parents sucks. Some teenagers are even better drivers than adults especially old people who go 20 mph under the speed limit. Teenagers may not have the experience of adults but their reflexes
can be faster since they are younger.

I really think the driving age should be raised. A teenager should not be allowed a learners permit until they are 18 and a drivers license at 19. That's my opinion.

Not really, no. Instead, it should be based on competency and willingness to follow the rules of the road. I've met young drivers who are far safer and more conscientious than many middle aged and older drivers. Safety and the ability to drive without endangering others should be the first requirement. Failure to retain those abilities should be grounds for immediate loss of the driving privilege no matter who you are or how old.

The insurance industry determines that young men are a high risk until age 27. In the interest of equality, men and women should not be licensed until age 28.

It's fine because if you look at it from the accidents view it's actually the older people who are crashing not the teenagers. I think we should have a driving age limit.

yes it should be raised because there are too many young people eager and excited about driving when they arent fully ready to. Yeah I know you can get license and all but it doesnt prove enough to say you are ready......Drive around the block then you are suppose to be ready for whatever is out there? I think not

I had heard that appropriate to the utilising age. i do no longer comprehend if it incredibly is actual yet i could be shocked as at 17 it incredibly is already larger than in lots of alternative international places. In Australia and New Zealand you cancontinual at 15, contained in the US it varies by using state yet is the two 15 or sixteen, etc. I had no longer heard appropriate to the eating age being raised and that i could be very shocked if it replaced into. the element is, in case you tell everyone elderly 18-21 that it incredibly is unlawful for them to drink, they're nevertheless going to do it besides! a minimum of eating legally in a bar limits your intake because of the fact (optimistically) the bar team refuse to serve you as quickly as you're under the impact of alcohol. yet this skill that they are going to be constrained to eating in inner maximum properties or in public venues like parks - for sure they are going to get somebody to purchase it for them or they are going to have faux IDs or regardless of - and then there will be no controls in place in any respect. So looks like a stupid concept to me!

I think it should. I didn't think so when I was 16...HA! Looking back though, you gain a sense of mortality in your late teens. It's a normal thing for 16 year olds to feel invincible. I suffered from "It won't happen to me" syndrome as much as anybody else. The problem is that sometimes it does happen to you. This is not to say that all 18 year olds have gained that maturity either....but more have than 16 year olds.

Not necessarily; there are idiots of all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. I do. however, think that the driver, NOT the parents, and or anyone else, should be held accountible for what happens to the car, whether they are 15 or 150.
