and they had to do surgery to take the pressure off his brain. they still sayed the pressure is at a 24 i dont know what that means. they said if he comes out of the coma he still will have brain damage. has anyone been thru this or have any idea what is going to happen? they have him comatosed cuz of the pain.

They are telling you about ICP (intracranial pressure). Normal is less than 10-15 mmHg (according to the link below). The reason they have him comatosed to keep the pressure down. That's all I have to say.

My condolences and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I checked with a friend who specializes in traumatic brain injuries. He said "modern medicine can almost produce wonders and that it sounds like they know what they are doing. The affects his brain damage will have on him can only be accessed once he wakes up. Most people can make up for, or use train another part of the brain to crutch the part that is damaged."
Watch what you say around him, even in a coma most patients still percieve and in very deep parts of memory, can remember what went on around them. Soft comforting converstation with him and touch is important.

i kinda know what you are talking about. close to three years ago i got in a bad wreck and lost 14% of my brain power and also destroyed the c5 vertebrae. if he is able to do mos tof the things he was able to before than be very thankful.

one of my best friends had to have her skull opened to let preshure out of her head after a drunk in a car hit her as she sat on her porch . she suffered no real long term effects other than she wont sit outside at night near a road.
