the engine, why not put another traction force at the end of the train, burning fuel like a "jet" and exiting at the tail end like an "inverted Y" which will "lighten the load" on the head end, so lesser traction force is required to pull the weight of the train, it is something like pushing a vehicle from behind to make the engine move at the head end...? I checked Bombardier JetTrain but I am not convinced that the Total force (traction power) required to make the train move anyway, will not change, it will only split the power in two halves (one at head, one at tail). Is there scientific proof, that putting a traction power (exhaust) at the tail end of the train, improves fuel efficiency or speed of the engine of the train?

To travel on Virgin Trains, does one need to be of 'that' status?

Oh, and what happens to you if you lie?

I have just moved near to Victoria Station in London and have no real problem with the noise from the trains, but I am curious why some train wheels screech and some don't?

I have lived by trains nearly all my life and still can not believe the amount of weight they can pull....the largest truck can only pull so much weight but a train can pull dozens and dozens of cars filled to the brim with stone, weighing over 50 tons each! With all that pressure pushing down on each car, how does the engine (weighing a small fraction of the total weight, pull all that weight? Especially getting started slowly with virtually no grip - just smooth metal on metal. Always wondered!

Frequently the Metro train is delayed because there is a sick passenger in a train ahead of it. What does this mean? Is the person unconscious? Woozy? Having a heart attack? Since these delays only last a few minutes, what is it that they do? Leave the person at the next station, or wait for paramedics? No one I've asked seems to know.

The railway axe. Thirty years on, what is the verdict? Specify routes.

How will the proposed hospital cuts be seen in thirty years time (when you are old and in need of a hospital bed) ?
