...it looks like a flat railcar that has a handle and two people use it to go down the tracks? They pump the handle up and down. You usually see these in old movies, TV shows, etc.

Both the wheels and track are polished steel with hardly any friction, and the train weighs more then the locomotive.

That wimp Stephen Harper has been getting almost sobbingly sentimental over the sufferings of the coolies who were lucky enough to get out of China during a particularly horrendous revolutionary period to work in safe Canada AND get the chance to stay and become citizens - something no foreigner can do in China, to this very day!!!!!
This Harper seems bent on out-sucking the sanctimonious Lester Pearson, the inventor of political correctness.

MEANWHILE, in Uganda, Wen Jiaobao has laid a wreath on a memorial to Chinese workers who died building the railway there.
At least there was something to howl about there : many were eaten by lions!!

What's America doing about remembering the Chinese who built the Atcheson-Topeka-Santa Fe Line?

Any one travel regularly on Southwest Trains routes and agree with me that they give a 200% BETTER service than they used to.. i have only had slight trouble twice since Christmas, and that was due to a Signalling Fault both times (which is out of there hands..) i think we should all switch to the Train..Where Possible.... MUCH Safer than Being with Some of the Nutcases and Dangerous drivers on the roads... Anyone agree?

original agreements with railroad operators said that because the government gave them sections of land (every other section) the railroad would accept all liability for any and all incidents occuring within the given right of way

I can not listen to a train horn without my heart sinking, It seems so scary to hear it. I always think that something bad is about to happen when it goes off.
