Are there any jobs, railroad related, that don't require a college degree or major license? And how frequent are train stations? Either they're very well hidden or very sporadic.

I would think Embankment north bound northern line. The reason is the platform is curved so the driver would not see you in time at the end of the platform by the the tunnel exit. Also the pit does not extend this far.

I read a post that said 2 long, one short and one long. Are there any other combinations and do they mean anything? They only blow them at RR Crossings, right?

I seen on TV one time an engeneer said it was 'one of the longest walks you'll ever take' when an engineer hears or feels something, they HAVE to stop and check to make sure it wasn't a person. Is this true and what are the rules for when you should stop?

Some roads around town run parallel to train tracks and you can see big metal bars that the trains go under and they have lights on them. It almost looks like traffic lights for trains. Is that what they are? Sometimes they are red, I think sometimes green, not sure. I was just wondering because it would be interesting to look at those and know if a train is coming and how far away it is.

I work for Union Pacific managing a small yard evenings (ie: I'm a yardmaster). Why do foamers constantly just mosey on into my office off the street and start asking me questions about the railroad? Don't you know that rail facilities are a place of business? Don't you know that I cannot 'look around my office for some old memorabilia" to simply give to you? Don't you know that I don't give a flying flip how much you know about the rails? I do this for a living. Foamers, please stay off railroad property...I write after having 3 seperate people enter through my door tonight!!!!!
