Paint one wall slightly darker than the rest. Or you could always mirror one wall.

I think that you should use less furniture in your sitting room, a room that is sparse appears larger. The use of mirrors on the walls of the room give the appearance of the room being larger. You should also use lighter colors in your sitting room.

Use light-colored paint on the walls, large mirrors hanging in a few places, and put furniture towards the walls, rather than in the middle of the floor, breaking up the space.

go buy a ware house... Would that be a big enough sitting room..... Besides, all of us model railroaders can sit on our beds and in our cars, thus giving more room for the model railroad. I say "to hell with a *sitting* room", unless you don't mind sitting underneth the trains...lol

paint it yellow and add lots of lamps for glowing light. the lighter the tint of the paint, the larger the space will seem. Also, light will cause the room to look wider. yay for yellow!

Put mirror tiles on one wall preferably across from a window, or a large mirror can work too! Good luck! Plants can add depth and dimension too!
