None in the case of the Docklands Light Railway in London as it it is a fully-automatic driverless, system.

Basically this depends on the country. Different countries have different qualification needs. like in Indian Railways you must be a diploma holder in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering or ITI holder. These were some qualification needed in Indian Railways for loco pilot.
