Every November my dad religiously brings the car battery in to charge it, he's done this since I can remember. He's got a newish car now and everyone tells him that it's not necessary these days, but to convince him I need to know actually why not. He's argument is how does he know it's not going to go flat, if anyone can give me a simple answer so I can pass onto him. battery

whats with the witch hunt on 4x4 drivers? everyone blames co2 or drivers are idiots but do they really understand 4x4s. i drive a 4x4 freelander 98% of its drive goes to front wheels only like most 4x4when on road its as good as 2 wheel drive (other makes are selectable on/off 4wd) most put out less co2 than old classic cars or some new cars, as far as i see it evey one has the right in this country to say what they want and drive what they want! i use mine off road and wading though the country lanes that flood and often tow out the ppl that moan about 4x4s when there car dies in the middle of the floods. As to the drivers being idiots or cant drive some are most aint i would guess same as any make of car drivers i have seen all cars being driven by idiots at times, bmws, mercs, fords, pugs, citrons its the driver not the car!

Though the cooling process may be slow, can we use the engine heat for expanding the gases and pass through a ventury as in some old refrigerators.?

This will be my first test. I'm quite confident but am sure that I will forget to do all the manouevers correctly and I need to make sure that my observation is up to scratch. Does anyone know of any ways of remembering everything?

I'm 23 and plan on driving home for Thanksgiving (San Francisco-Seattle). I don't own a car and I'm not covered by insurance. Most companies tack on an "Underage" fee. They also don't offer unlimited miles. I need to do 1650 miles roundtrip and plan on having the car for 5 days. I also need insurance. Could you recommend a company? I don't have much money so I've been searching online for the best deal...I can't find one! I tried autodriveaway.com but they have no cars available. Thank you!

I drive a diesel at work and I've seen gasoline engines warm up completely in 10-15 minutes. Our diesels, while being driven, not idling, take 30-45 minutes to warm up. Why does it take so long? They are Mercedes 5 cylinder engines.

I've just heard about the GM Flexfuel program that uses E85- 85% corn (uhh....) and 15% gasoline. Where is it possible to purchase one of these? I would want a Chevrolet Avalanche or Tahoe that runs on Flexfuel. One of my relatives would like it.
