I am considering buying an '07 Toyota Matrix and the base b model only has power-assisted brakes. I have only ever driven cars with ABS. What would the difference be like?

Just for clarity I'm talking about the ones where two people are in a car talking and then they suffer a side impact.

I'll be moving to Montana next month. I have everything pretty much ready to go. Just one issue really-my car. I have a dodge neon that is in the process of being moved over to a salvaged title (in CA-the worst/most expensive state to get that done) & has a huge crack in the radiator. The original plan was to fix it, new(snow tires- I'll be moving in Dec.) tires and all, pack it up and head home. But I'm starting to doubt if it will make it up there and don't want to give up a car I've paid off. I know if I rented a uhaul I could tow it-but I really am not taking much at all. I need a cheap way to get my car from CA to Montana-if possible. Suggestions?

I bought a 1994 cadillac deville from a very honest man. He told me that he averaged about 24 miles to the gallon and that was also the reading on the dash (it displays the average gas mileage). However, I reset the counter on the dash and now it says I am only averaging about 20 MPG and I drive mostly on the highway. Do I have to run a whole tank of gas for an accurate reading? Or are they pretty accurate from the start?

I understand the debate on the high pollotion levels these things give off but should everybody that drives one be punished by high tax?
I drive a 4x4 as I need to for my work. I am self employed and require the bigger vehicle to tow. But why should I be punished for trying to earn a living?
Surely there should be some sort of system of taxation based on what you use the vehicle for - for example if it's simply to take the kids to school - tax the thousands per year.

What does everybody else think? Should all 4x4 drivers be punished or those that drive them just for show?

I live on a main road, near traffic lights, with an open driveway to my house, whereas i have to reverse in from the main road. I am sick of other drivers pulling right alongside me, when the lights are on red, so i cannot swing my car back into my driveway. Do i not have a legal right, to enter my own property? I am sick of being sworn at, and fingers put up at me, or simply ignored, when they see i am indicating to go in, with my reverse lights on. I have just sat for 10 mins, as no one left a space for me, it infuriates me, should they not legally let me enter my own driveway, what are my rights here? I am gonna lose it big time soon, why are people so damn ignorant?

Many years back (30's & 40's) cars had signal arm indicators, but for 10 years I have tried to find out which was the first production car to have winking indicators instead of signal arms, and who invented them. Can anyone help here please? I reckon it was just post war and american but beyond that I can go no further.

In some circumstances I do agree to them fully, such as outside schools, well known black spots, General roads of danger well known for speeding.

In most cases I think speed cameras distract me from the road becasue i am sometimes to busy looking for them, I don't speed in general and tend not to look at the guage and when I see a camera it panics me a bit, i just drive to what the condition of the roads are.

What are your opinions please?
