It's a good idea. Might make more people get out of their cars and onto public transport. When the transport companies realise that more people are using it, they're more likely to improve services.
I heard some woman on Newsbeat moaning about it, she said huffily, "It might even mean I have to start catching the bus." Er, yes, that's the point lady!

The congestion charge is simply a way of getting money to pay for public transport. It hasn't reduced congestion, and by making the zone larger, it will mean more traffic can circulate within the zone, so congestion will increase again. In London, public transport is very good, but expensive, and the tube is hopeless if you have luggage or you find walking difficult (I don't mean that you're disabled, just if you are not young and fit).

I think congestion charging is robbing motorists just like the speed cameras. I think Tony Blair should come clean and wear is highway mans mask all the time! Its stand and deliver time again motorists.
The congestion charge has been in Durham (my native city) for sometime now and the only place it stands is near the castle and cathedral and the street where all the lawyers are. What a con!!! Lets sting all the tourists and people who need legal representation.
We motorists should stand together and get rid of all congestion charging and speed cameras, be honest Tony its the dosh you are after!

I'm quite concerned.
I'm a courier, the only way i can carry on is by passing the charge to the customer.
Which means higher prices in the shops.
I do so hope that this nonsense does not apply to delivery drivers.
Because if it is, the everyday person will be paying for the extra money coming out of my pocket. I have a very little profit margin as it is!

Bl00dy Communists. sooner we vote in someone else the better.
Tax Tax Tax. It happened before the conservatives, and its happening after the Conservatives.I don't' think that Labour should EVER hold office again in my lifetime (At least the next 40 years I hope.) I would vote in ANYONE as an alternative to Labour Scum. They are so full of Bovine Excrement. They only look after "Lazy Good for Nothing Stay at Home Dole Collectors who live in council houses and have never done a days (Taxed) work, in their sorry good for nothing lives!"(and I don't mean people who are genuine.)

Typical government approach. Tax tax tax and pretend it's for the greater good of society. Will the additional revenue be spent on improving public transport so there is a reasonable alternate to travelling to work by car?

unfortunatly they tend to make the people causing congestion exempt, like people working for the council and then just hit fines on people that aren't regular city drivers, if they did tax the ones causing congestion it would caulse an uproar cos it would be government staff
